The UK Standardization Instructor is responsible for ensuring the consistent application of UK aviation training standards across all trainees. This role focuses on maintaining compliance with UK CAA/EASA regulatory frameworks, standardizing instructional delivery, and evaluating both theoretical and practical training elements.
Key Responsibilities
Standardization & Oversight
Ensure standardization of all UK trainee instruction in accordance with UK CAA and/or EASA regulations.
Monitor and enforce adherence to approved training manuals, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
Act as the subject matter expert for UK training standards within the organization.
Instruction & Training
Deliver and oversee training related to FCL.900 Instructor Standardization Courses.
Provide ground and flight instruction where required, maintaining high instructional quality.
Mentor and support instructors to ensure consistent training delivery.
Evaluation & Assessment
Conduct evaluations of:
Board briefings (pre/post-flight briefings)
Flight instruction sessions
Instructor performance and standardization
Provide structured feedback and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Compliance & Auditing
Perform regular logbook audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure all training records meet UK CAA/EASA requirements.
Support internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections.
Quality Assurance
Identify gaps in training quality and implement improvement initiatives.
Assist in the development and revision of training materials and procedures.
Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Valid UK CAA or EASA Flight Instructor License (CFI / FI)
Qualified and current in accordance with applicable regulations
Experience
Minimum 200 hours IFR flight experience
Demonstrated experience in flight instruction and standardization
Experience conducting instructor evaluations or check flights preferred
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of UK CAA / EASA regulations, particularly Part-FCL
In-depth understanding of FCL.900 Instructor Standardization requirements
Excellent instructional, briefing, and assessment skills
High attention to detail, particularly in compliance and documentation
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
Examiner privileges (FE, CRE, IRE, etc.)
Previous experience in a standardization or training management role
Experience working within an ATO environment
